Chapter 15

“I’m telling you, boy. You better stop filming me,” Taraj glanced back at the camera, dramatically tossing her long hair over her shoulder.

Taz audibly chuckled, as he continued to train his phone’s camera on her, as she pushed a basket through Wal-Mart at one in the morning. She wore red Mini Mouse pajamas that were hugging her ass, as she naturally switched her sharp hips.

Tazerin was in the basket, chilling, sipping juice from his cup with his red Mickey Mouse pajamas and Jordans on. He was absolutely adorable as the tendrils of curls in his Mohawk glistened underneath the store’s fluorescent lights. Taz couldn’t deny that his little family was beautiful.

It had been a month since he’d found out that Lani’s daughter was actually his. Still, things were awkward. Little Lyra had been believing that some other man was her father, and that wasn’t something easily reversed. Then Lani seemed to be playing games, as far as her daughter spending time with him was concerned. Quickly putting two and two together, Taraj concluded that there was something dirty in the water, and was willing to bet that Lani hadn’t revealed those DNA results to her cash cow, King. Perhaps her hopes had been to rekindle an old flame with Taz, and once that didn’t seem feasible she’d lost all interest in the situation.

Having a connection with another individual had to come naturally, therefore Taz didn’t feel strongly one way or another. He did intend to get to know his daughter, but that passion for her presence wasn’t as strong as he even felt it should be. Feeling lost on the matter, he’d actually prayed about it, needing to find some resolve. Thankfully, Taraj had been a real trooper, lending her unwavering support, and often stressed the importance of him getting to know his little girl. For that he loved her even more than before, because she rode with him unconditionally.

“Damn, these grapes are plump,” Taraj voiced, as she slowed in front of a fruit stand. “Let me see,” she grumbled, as she plucked several grapes from a vine. Greedily, she shoved them into her mouth. “Umm,” she moaned. “They sweet.”

“Gimmie mommy,” Tazerin reached out his hands.

“Here, baby,” she placed a white grape in his mouth.

“Damn, how many of those bitches are you gonna eat?” Taz teased, still recording her.

“Fuck you,” she gave him the finger, before pushing her shopping cart forward.

“I’m thirsty,” Taraj announced for the hell of it. Heading to the coolers where the juices were, she grabbed a cold bottle of orange juice. “Uh, it’s cold,” she twerked, as she popped the seal on the juice, before taking it to the head.

Taz tittered. “Raj, them people gon hem yo ass up in here. Stop fucking with these people shit.”

“Taz,” she called out, before unexpectedly bending over, touching her toes, bouncing her ass. “Ask me if I care,” she uttered, once she stood up straight, and grabbed her basket.

For a while they continued their stroll through the store, as she grabbed food, and household items.
